Is there any value on creating a "coding system" to number work orders, or this just complicates things when trying to following it?

Near the very bottom of the menu bar to the left of the program window is a setup window. In there you can enable/disable auto numbering of work order numbers.
It's just an auto increment number
If you have the 'Pro' version of MiniMRP with Multiple sites you can also prefix the Site ID before the work order number.
If by 'coding' you mean that we'd add some special combination of characters based on some given criteria then no. We can't do this for you.
