| By: Guest | Posted on: Aug 12 2024 at 08:38:42 AM | I have setup a test using a NAS drive and two PC's, simply sharing the data and other files as detailed in the help files. Enverything works as expected.
However, when the system has been left for a while, attempting to access various sections, clicking on customer orders, for example, the screen goes grey for a while then either opens the tab or closes the program.
If the program closes, you can reopen it straight away with no issue. The files are not being accessed at the same time - Only one user.
Strange thing, i tried the NAS drive becuase i was seeing the same thing with the same test but using a PC on the network with a shared folder.
The other interesting thing is that it appears to be mainly just one of the PC's that has the issue.
Is this a problem with just sharing the data, rather than using a SQL setup? | |
| By: Support | Posted on: Aug 13 2024 at 05:42:45 AM | You said that you're just sharing the data file - Sharing the data file would not be using the NAS's built in SQL Server so SQL Setup shouldn't be the issue.
You said if the system is left a while. This sounds like the NAS is going into standby mode and not waking up quick enough. But you then said that it only affects one of the PCs? That would suggest that it's the PC network adapter that's going to sleep.
