Topic: BOM Price Updating
|
| By: Mark | Posted on: Jan 26 2026 at 07:50:46 PM | In one of your posts in May 2023 you mention the following: "In MiniMRP an item can have many different vendors. One of those vendors is defined as the 'default vendor'. It's this vendor's price that is shown when viewing, for example, a Bill of Materials.
You can buy from any of the vendors. If you buy from a vendor that is not the default then that vendor's price will be updated but the price of the item in a BOM will not change because the default vendor's price was not changed." Has this been updated or have there been other options added to update the price of the BOM? For example, can the price be related to the most recent purchase price instead of the default supplier? If there is no new update, then what would you recommend as the best course of action for update the pricing in the BOM?

I can't remember exactly what that does but, IIRC when you receive items from a supplier it updatds tge cost price based on the price paod on that order. I don't know if it'll automatically change the default supplier.

I have the auto price flag "on" in the Set Up page, but the "Cost" field does not change from the Default Supplier cost - even if i buy the part at a different price from a different supplier. Is there a delay when the Cost updates in miniMRP?

There's no delay. The database is updated immediately.
But if you're looking at a BOM in one window which is showing the old price and you receive the item at a new price in another/different window the other BOM window won't update automatically. You'd need to click the refresh button to make it re-read the latest data from the database.

For example, I bought some parts from a supplier (due to an emergency) and the price was significantly higher than our default supplier. The price in mini mrp is still recognizing the lower "default" price. The Auto-Update Detail Price flag is on. So i'm not sure why I am not seeing the updated costs upon the receipt of the material?

If you buy from a different (non-default) supplier then it's that non-default supplier's price which would be updated. We can't overwrite the default supplier's price with a price from some other supplier.
